Meet  Janice...

A Note From John...

Janice officially joined my Team as my Marketing, Design, and Administrative Assistant in the spring of 2016.  The goal has always been to provide you - my valued client - with the best possible representation through professional, expert, friendly, and prompt service. Whether buying or selling, your needs and desires are my top priority.  Now with two dedicated professionals on your side, we hope to serve you even better in the future!

Hi, I'm Janice -  Welcome to the John Knox Team

As a third generation Nelsonite, I really get why people fall in love with the Kootenays and want to make Nelson their home.

Born to the local Fitchett / Hellekson families and growing up in the communities of Procter and Balfour, I spent a great deal of my youth exploring and embracing the outdoors.  From camping, boating, swimming, and waterskiing in the summer, to hiking, biking and quading in the spring and fall, and to downhill and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, I feel I have a well-rounded appreciation for the outdoor vibe of this diverse area.

Growing up in Procter and Balfour I had the opportunity of attending kindergarten at Willow Point, and then Procter Elementary (which is now home to the Village Bakery) and later Balfour Elementary (which is now the Old Schoolhouse Fitness Centre).  From there I bussed (as everyone did and still does) to Nelson to attend Trafalgar and finally graduating from LV Rogers (with honours).

Not wanting to leave my family and this beautiful area, I enrolled at the Nelson Campus of Selkirk College and obtained my legal secretary certificate. Even before completing the program I landed my first (and only) job as a legal secretary for Crown Counsel, Criminal Justice Branch where I remained for 27 years.

During that time I married, had 2 wonderful children (Julie and Megan), divorced, and met John.  John and I moved to our home in Rosemont with our new blended family - Jordan (John), Julie and Megan (me) and Claire (John).  What an adventure!  My oldest Julie just completed her first year in Engineering at the University of Calgary before moving to Ontario with her boyfriend.  Megan graduated LV Rogers this year and is off to pursue her Fine Arts degree at the University of Victoria.

At some point (or at many times for some) we ask ourselves that all important question - "Am I fullfilled?"  "Does this career excite me?" "Does it challenge me?"  "Am I making a difference for myself and for others?"  I found myself asking that question, and the answer that came back to me was no... not really.  Five years ago I started assisting John with his marketing and website design and fell in love with the creative aspect of those duties.  From there as John's business expanded it became clear that a full-time assistant was necessary.  Finding myself ready for a change, I took the plunge and left my job at Crown Counsel to work alongside John as his un-licensed assistant.

I find myself now fully engaged in Real Estate marketing, web design, and administration and loving every minute of it! I can't wait to meet you and put my new-found enthusiam and creativity to work for you!
