Local Sales Summary to September, 2016

Here is a snapshot of our local market activity up to the end of September 2016 for Nelson City detached homes and Nelson Rural detached homes. For comparison, I have included the numbers for the same period from last year. As you can see, year-to-date the price trend continues to indicate increases in average prices both in the city and rurally around Nelson. Things are selling faster and the sales price to original listing price is tightening. Kootenay home sales post strong year-over-year gain in September

“2016 will be a nine-year high for home sales in the region, and the strong monthly sales figures that began back in February have yet to slow signs of slowing,” said Barry Benson, President of the Kootenay Real Estate Board. “While new listings are in tight supply relative to demand right now, and active supply continues to trend constructively down, there has still been a healthy enough amount inventory out there to keep prices mostly stable again this year.” New residential listings numbered 349 units in September 2016. OCTOBER REAL ESTATE UPDATE - BC Home Sales Reflect Regional Demand Variations

The British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) reports that 7,591 residential unit sales were recorded by the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in September, down 11.2 per cent from the same month last year. Total sales dollar volume was $4.45 billion in September, down 14.1 per cent compared to the previous year.
